Ilorin,  May 7, 2018 (NAN) The Executive Chairman of  Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Mr Murtala Awodun, has expressed concern over the poor reading habit of Nigerians.

Awodun told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin  that the importance of reading to intellectual development could not  be over emphasised.

The KWIRS boss, who said  that more recognition should be given to authors, commended the courage of Nigerian writers for  the hard work they put into  their publications to impact  positively on society.

”I see writers as the winners of our society because their blueprint can stand the test of time.

”They contribute greatly to promoting societal norms,  values and morals,’’ Awodun said.

He said many  Nigerians were more inclined to entertainment than activities that could develop their intellect.  (NAN)
