Abuja, May 7, 2018 (NAN) A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Monday, sentenced one Magaji Audu, to two months imprisonment for mischief.
Audu, of Jabi Motor Park Abuja, was convicted on one-count charge of mischief.
He, however, pleaded guilty to the charge, and begged the court to temper justice with mercy.
“I did not know what came over me, please forgive me sir’’.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5, 000 fine.
Sadiq, who warned Audu to shun crime and be a good citizen, expressed the hope that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr Zannah Dalhatu, said one Rita Owose of Herbert Macaulay Way Central Area, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station Abuja on April 29.
Dalhatu said that on the same day, the complainant was driving a Toyota Corolla along Wuye Express Road Abuja, the convict was also driving a truck.
He said that Audu drove the truck in a dangerous manner and dishonestly entered the express way without considering other road users.
The prosecutor said in the process that the convict collided with the complainant’s car and damaged it.
Dalhatu said during police investigation, he confessed to the crime.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 327 of the Penal Code.
