Empowerment

Doma (Nasarawa State), May 4, 2018 (NAN) The Catholic Relief Service (CRS), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has empowered 205 women with N1.4 million in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Mr Felix Ikirebe, the Senior Technical Specialist of CRS on Friday in Doma, said that the empowerment programme was aimed at assisting the vulnerable in the society.
Ikirebe said that the NGO was carrying out a similar gesture in five states, including Nasarawa State.
He said that women from poor households in Nasarawa State, Benue, Kogi, Edo and FCT, were among the beneficiaries of the current phase of distribution.
The CRS technical specialist said the distribution was done in collaboration with another NGO, Child Education and Community Development Initiative (CECDI).
Similarly, Florence Aboki, the Executive Director of CECDI, urged all the 205 beneficiaries, who got N20,000 each, to make judicious use of the money; to improve their conditions.
Aboki added that the NGO would set a machinery in motion to ensure proper utilisation of the money by the beneficiaries.
Mrs Cecilia Jonathan, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the NGO for the gesture. (NAN)
