Abuja, May 3, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Thursday arraigned a 28-year-old man, Lawey Umaru, in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged negligent conduct.

The defendant, who resides at 69 Road, Gwarimpa, Abuja, is standing trial on a count charge of negligent conduct.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

The prosecutor, Zannan Dalhatu, told the court that one E.J. Osain, of same address with the defendant, reported the matter at Gwarimpa Police Station, on April 30.

The complainant alleged that the defendant, a security guard, on that same date came to inform him that his two air conditioners’ external units valued at N100, 000 were missing.

Dalhatu alleged that earlier, some tiles valued at N40, 000 were missing.

He said that the offence contravened Section 196 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant N50, 000 bail with one surety in like sum.

Sadiq said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, present utility bill and adjourned the case until May 16, for hearing. (NAN)
