Yola, April 29, 2018 (NAN) Some All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Adamawa, have warned against any attempt to manipulate the forthcoming party congress in the state.

The stakeholders gave the warning against the backdrop of a recent statement by Gov. Muhammadu Bindow, who endorsed the state party executive at all levels for continuity.

The stakeholders in a statement read by the former Secretary to the Federal Government, Mr Babacir Lawan, who chaired their just concluded meeting, reiterated their position for elective congress.

According to him, party members in the state will accept noting short of elective congress, even if it is one person, who is vying for a position.

“Therefore, upon the expiration of the current leadership of our party, credible election is the only lawful constitutional means of replacing them.

“We thus call upon all concerned members of the party, congress committee and contestants to conduct themselves in a manner devoid of any violence or rancour.

“No attempt should be made to exclude any segment of the party from participating in the process by whatever means by any evil mind”.

They, however, advised the current state executive members at all levels interested in seeking re-election to do so, adding that any of them, who had performed credibly well would be re-elected.

The stakeholders also endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term, promising to mobilise human and material support for his victory in 2019.

“We shall mobilise the needed human and material resources to campaign for his reelection not only in the state but all over the country”.

However, Bindow, his commissioners and members of the House of Assembly, who supported continuity for the state executives of the party, were absent at the stakeholders’ meeting. (NAN)
