Bokkos (Plateau) April 26, 2018 (NAN) Rep. Solomon Maren (PDP-Plateau)) on Thursday said his two-day free medical outreach would target 10,000 persons in Mangu and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau.
Maren disclosed this while at the opening ceremony of the outreach at Allah Nakowa Hospital, Mangu and Luna Hospital, Bokkos.
He said a similar programme conducted in 2017 recorded over 7, 000 beneficiaries, “but this year, my target is 10,000 persons in Mangu/Bokkos Constituency.’’
“It’s my candid belief that offering free medical treatment to my people is the most effective way of reaching out to them with the dividends of democracy.
“The health of the people is my priority; more so that it’s only with the living that things are done and not the dead. It’s not just living but healthy living that makes life meaningful and worthwhile.
“The people have made me proud by sending me to the National Assembly to represent them and I felt I should reciprocate by giving back to them in this manner beside the schools, boreholes and skill acquisitions that I offered to them, ’’ he said.
Maren said he sponsored six different bills and supported 62 others at the house.
He admonished the people to take advantage of the free medical outreach and get themselves and relations examined, treated and get free drugs.
Also, the Plateau PDP Chairman, Chief Damishi Sango, commended the sponsor for the programme, which he described as “well thoughtful and life saving.’’
Sango, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Amos Gombi, challenged other political office holders to emulate the gestures.

She said majority of the beneficiaries would be women and children and thanked the lawmaker for touching the lives of the constituents.
Her counterpart in Bokkos, Mrs Anna Jerry, said “you may not know the import of what you have done to us by this free medical programme but all we have to tell you is God bless you richly.’’
