Ilorin, April 26, 2018 (NAN) An Islamic body, Council for Protection of Muslims’ Right, has called on Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed of Kwara to assent to the bill seeking to prohibit sales of human parts.
The council also urged the governor to assent to the bill prohibiting sales and consumption of alcohol in Ilorin.
Alhaji AbdulKadir Shola-Muse, Secretary of the council, made the call in llorin on Thursday while addressing press conference on the significance of the two bills; for the Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the two bills were passed on Feb.12 by the State House of Assembly.
Shola-Muse, who expressed dismay on the alarming rate of sales and dealing with human parts in various parts of the state, said quick assent to the bill would curb the development.
He commended the foresight of Muslim organisations and representatives of Christian organisations who attended the public hearing which led to the passage of the bills.
Shola-Muse appealed to Muslim organisations and other stakeholders to complement the effort of the council toward ensuring full implementation of the bills, when assented to by the governor.
“The two bills waiting for assent of Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed will benefit residents of the state and the council humbly urges the governor to assent to the bills,” he said.
He said the council, with branches in all states of the federation, would continue to ensure the rights of Muslims in all facets of life. (NAN)
