Wamba (Nasarawa State), April 20, 2018 (NAN) The Arum Sarki Community in Nasarawa State is constructing a five-kilometre road worth N1.5 million to boost the socio-economic activities in the area.
Mr Yakubu Ayara, the Chairman, Arum Sarki Development Association, who flagged off the construction on Friday, said the road would particularly boost agricultural activities in the area.
The road project, which is being executed through self-help, is the Losi-Arum Shaua-Arum Sarki road.
He said the road, when completed, would reduce the hardship being experienced by commuters and enhance easy movement of farm produce to urban locations.
The association chairman said the community would spend N1.5 million to construct the road.
“The people came together to contribute money in order to develop the community through the road construction.
“This is to complement government’s efforts in improving the standard of living of our people.
“The reconstruction of the road will not only reduce the hardship people faced on the road, but it will also boost agricultural and socio-economic activities of this area,’’ Ayara said.
He commended the people of the community for contributing positively to the development of the area.
The Village Head, Mr Yakaubu Ibrahim, commended Gov. Tanko Almakura for his development strides across the state.
He appealed to the state government to assist the community through the provision of infrastructure in the area.
Mr Anthony Asakpa of Asakpa Engineering Service in Abuja in charge of the road construction, promised to deliver quality job.
