Lagos, April 11, 2018 (NAN) An estate manager, Bolanle Quadry, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N930,000 belonging to some tenants.

The accused, 39, who resides at No. 7, Ogunjobi St., Dopemu, Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge
of stealing.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Police Prosecutor Raji Akeem insisted that the offence was committed between January 2013 and March 2013
at Howson Wright Estate at Alausa, Ikeja.

Akeem said the accused collected N930,000 from the residents as maintenance fees for five years.

“The accused failed to remit the money into the estate’s maintenance account.

“The estate management got to know that the fees had always been paid into the accused’s account by the
residents when they decided to go on routine checks,’’ he alleged.

Akeem said when the accused was confronted he did not deny it but was unable to provide the money.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The section stipulates three years imprisonment for offenders.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Jadesola Adeyemi –Ajayi, granted the accused a N100,000 bail with two sureties
in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 23. (NAN)
