Man, 39, arraigned for allegedly stealing 3 goats

Ikeja, April 3, 2018 (NAN) A 39-year-old man, Mutiu Akanni, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing three goats belonging to his neighbour.
Akanni, a panel beater, resides at No. 7, Oladire St., Obawole at Iju in Agege, near Lagos.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told court that the offence was committed on March 24 at the residence of the accused.
He told the court that one Immaculate Eriobuna, the owner of the goats, reported the matter at the police station.
The prosecutor said that the complainant alleged that the day the three goats, valued at N100, 000 got missing was the day the accused was alone in the compound.
Ogu said, however, said that “when the accused was asked about the goats, he could not give reasonable answer and his actions said it all and he was subsequently, arrested”.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Akanni, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate J.A. Adegun granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegun adjourned the case until April 19 for mention. (NAN)
