FRIN board members conclude 2-day working visit

Ibadan, March 29, 2018 (NAN) The newly-inaugurated members of the Governing Board of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Ibadan, have just concluded a two-day working visit to the institute.

 

A statement by Dr Adeshola Adepoju, Executive Director of FRIN, in Ibadan on Thursday said that the visit was part of their oversight functions on the management of the institute.

 

Adepoju said that the oversight visit, which was from March 26 to March 27, was aimed at promoting the smooth execution of government policies, while ensuring efficient and effective utilisation of resources of the institute.

 

He said that members of the board, which had Alhaji Kaumi Damboa as its chairman, included Mrs Doyin Ogunbiyi and Dr Hassan Dabutor.

 

He said that the others were Mrs Fatimah Danjuma, Mrs Lanre Otiti, Mr Ayuba Butswat and Alhaji Abubakar Maikudi as well as the representatives of the Federal Ministry of Environment and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

 

Adepoju said that the board members were taken on a facility tour of the various research departments of FRIN in order to intimate them with the specific goals of the mandate of the institute.

 

“They were taken through the Bio-Medicinal Research Centre, fish pond, Sustainable Forest Management Department, Multipurpose Tree Species Improvement Project unit.

 

“They were also taken to FRIN Forest Experimental Plots, FRIN Zoo, Forests Conservation and Protection Department and the Institute’s museum,’’ he said.

 

Adepoju said that the institute would do its best to achieve its mission and vision, while ensuring a sustainable green environment in the country. (NAN)
