Abuja, March 27, 2018 (NAN) Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, General Overseer, Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Mbodo Aluu, Rivers State, has urged the Federal Government to establish more security posts in various communities in the North Eastern zone of the country.
Chinyere gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that the establishment of these security outposts would help to ensure adequate security and detect easily when crime was about to occur in such areas.
The cleric said that provision of appropriate structure by the security agencies in the communities would help to protect the lives and property of the people in the areas.
He also said that the effort would go a long way to reduce the number of victims whenever emergency situation arises, especially in schools.
The cleric said that his ministry was committed to support the family of Leah Sharibu, who was abducted alongside other 109 girls on February 19.
NAN reports that on February 19, some school girls were abducted by insurgent groups in Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State.
However, on March 21, the abducted girls were released but Sharibu was not among the girls released on the ground that she refused to renounce her Christian faith despite the pressure by her abductors.
The cleric said that the ministry had declared fasting and prayer for God to intervene on her release, adding that the church would continue to assist the family.
Chinyere also urged other religious leaders to join in one faith to pray for the release of the girl, adding that a fervent prayer would bring positive result.
He also advised the government to set up skill acquisition centres in all the communities in the North-east to engage the youths on different types of vocation.
“What led to this Boko Haram is because the youths are not really engage in any reasonable vocation.
“So, if the Federal Government can set up skill acquisition centres in the North-east where the youths will be engaged, crime and clashes will reduce to zero per cent.
“For instance, in Rivers State where my ministry is based, we have been able to establish the centres, where we engaged the youths in several skills acquisition.
“We have engaged about 2,500 militants in different communities with skills acquisition to help reduce crimes in the state.
“We accommodate, feed them on a daily basis and they have surrendered their arms, which they are using to terrorize people in the area.
“I believe if the government can do so in the Northeast it will reduce crime in the area,’’ he said.
Chinyere, however, advised all the religious leaders to preach peace and support the less privileged, adding that the support would reduce poverty, crisis and illness in the country. (NAN)
