Bauchi, March. 21, 2018 (NAN) The Bauchi State Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr Lawan Ali, says the agency has trained over 2,000 unemployed youths in the state on entrepreneurship this year.

Ali made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Wednesday.

According to him, the youths were effectively engaged in entrepreneurial development skills to enable them to become self-reliant.

“We have trained 913 women on cosmetology which has to do with making Vaseline, shampoo and liquid soaps, among others,’’ he said.

He said 1,283 men were trained in various trades such as computer operation, batik, tie and dye, cake baking, meat pie preparation as well as hair dressing.

Ali said the training programmes which commenced in January lasted between two and three months.

The coordinator said that the agency trained 30 other unemployed youths on cow fattening.

He said that 50 youths were trained on how to write feasibility reports which enabled them to contact loan-granting agencies to help them start their own businesses.

“The new leadership of NDE is trying to liaise with the National Assembly to have a law compelling all agencies to declare vacancies to the NDE.

“This will enable us to recruit unemployed youths and link them with the agencies that are willing to employ,’’ Ali said. (NAN)
