Akure, March 20, 2018 (NAN) Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Tuesday called for collaboration between government and stakeholders to ensure better funding of the education sector.
Akeredolu made the call in Akure, when he received leaders of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), Ondo Chapter, who paid him a courtesy visit.
He said that the government could not finance the education sector single-handedly, hence the need for collaboration.
The governor said that major stakeholders like ANCOPPS and Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) were needed to assist the government in a bid to make the education sector better.
“Let us all reason together because we can’t know it all.
“You are major stakeholders in education. I hope you will work with us to get our people better informed,” he said.
Akeredolu promised to give ANCOPPS the support needed to make their forthcoming conference in the state a success.
Earlier, Mr Michael Adeyanju, President, ANCOPPS, Ondo Chapter, commended Akeredolu for the relative peace enjoyed in the state.
He said it was one of the conditions which attracted investors to the state.
Adeyanju said that ANCOPPS would continue to support the government in working toward revamping the educational sector.
He also commended the governor for his prudent management of resources, which had enabled him to deliver some infrastructure projects within his first year in office.
Adeyanju urged the government to support ANCOPSS in making their forthcoming congress in Ondo State a befitting one.(NAN)
