Teenager, 2 others in court over alleged bag snatching

Abuja, March 16, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Friday arraigned an 18-year-old boy, Mohammed Bello, and two men, Shehu Abdullahi, 20 and Jerry Gaga, 20, before a Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly snatching a handbag.
The defendants , residents of Barnex, Mabushi area, FCT, are facing a count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Mr Adeyemi Oyeyemi, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on March 9 at 10:00p.m.
Oyeyemi said that the accused persons allegedly snatched a handbag belonging to one Tobi Okeke, when the latter’s vehicle broke down at AP Plaza, Wuse zone 2, Abuja.
According to him, the handbag contained a HP computer, phone power bank, cell phone and phone charger.
The offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Emenisi Ebiwari, admitted the accused persons to bail in the sum of N50, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until April 9 for hearing. (NAN)
