March 15, 2018 (NAN) Musa Kida, President, Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), on Thursday said that he will cooperate with FIBA to come up with acceptable statutes for basketball administration in Nigeria in line with its provisions.

Kida, who accepted the FIBA decision, said the international body governing basketball was silent about the date for a new election although it unequivocally stated that it would maintain communications with the Musa Kida-led board.

It said that going by the letter received from FIBA, “we as a responsible organisation with a passion for basketball development in Nigeria will work closely with FIBA during this critical phase, forging a way forward for basketball.

“The continued impasse has affected the expected growth of basketball, especially the various national leagues and capacity building programmes for coaches and technical officials.

“I call on all stakeholders to exercise more patience,’’ Kida said in a statement on Thursday in Lagos by his Media Coordinator, Afolabi Oni.

“This has dragged on for so long, but we know that this process is necessary if we want to secure the future of basketball for generations unborn.

“We call on all relevant stakeholders to come forward with positive contributions to help the game to grow in Nigeria,’’ the statement quoted Kida as saying. (NAN)
