Lagos, March 9, 2018 (NAN) Mr Lawal Ayoola, a businessman and chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Scandinavia, has offered to build a strong base for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Lagos State to further boost the economy.
He spoke on Friday when he visited the executive committee of the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans at Ifako-Ijaiye.
He described the contributions of the informal sector to which tradesmen and artisans belong as crucial to the economy and urged them to be steadfast and creative.
“ The aim of this visit is to know more about your challenges and how to collaborate with you on training and skill development so that you can be up to date globally,’’ Ayoola said.
According to him, SMEs play a crucial role in the economy of any nation.
He said no effort should be spared to keep them abreast of the latest trends in their businesses in spite of the challenges facing them.
“ It is equally important that we interact to know the role of the government and how to empower the SMEs for greater efficiency in the development of community, society or nation.
“ In some developing countries, SMEs are the mainstay of the economy and I believe that they should be encouraged to assist to grow our economy too,” the APC chieftain said.
The chairperson of the association, Mrs Bankole Adeola, thanked Ayoola for the visit and for opening up the vista of opportunities and expansion of their businesses.
She also lauded him for his readiness to work with tradesmen and artisans in the state.
She said the new technologies and methods unfolded at the meeting would go a long way to assisting them to increase their capacities.
“The visit is a great motivation and we look forward to working with you professionally,” Adeola said. (NAN)
