Sexagenarian arraigned over N800, 000 fraud

Ile-Ife (Osun), March 8, 2018 (NAN) A sexagenarian, Femi Awoyera, was on Thursday charged with defrauding a man of N810, 000 at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun.
Awoyera, 64, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The accused, according to Police Prosecutor Emmanuel Abdullahi, committed the offences sometime in December 2016 at Okerenbete Village near Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi alleged that the accused obtained the N810, 000 from a man on the pretext of securing his cocoa farm.
The offences contravened Sections 383, 390 (9) and 419 of Criminal Code, Laws of Osun 2002.
Magistrate Isola Omisade,in his ruling, granted the accused N800,000 bail with one surety in like sum.
He said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction as part of the bail conditions.
The case was adjourned until March 15 for hearing. (NAN)
