PLASU VC announces plans for varsity’s academic excellence

Bokkos (Plateau) March 7, 2018 (NAN) Prof. Yohanna Izam, the newly-appointed Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, on Wednesday announced his plans for the institution to achieve academic excellence.
Izam announced the plans at the Senate Chamber while addressing the University’s Senate, the highest academic decision- making organ of the institution.
The Vice chancellorsaid “part of my vision include training, staffing, providing befitting university infrastructure, beautification and landscaping of the institution’’.
“Other priority areas are the completion of the University’s strategic plan, security of staff, students and university’s property, relocation of principal officers of the university back on campus and adequate water supply.
“I will encourage the emergence of clubs and societies and extra curricular activities to enhance the discovery of talents among students as well as explore alternative non-government funding mechanisms by meaningfully engaging the private sector.
“We will get in touch with well wishers and friends of the university to come and invest in driving the institution’s infrastructure expansion initiative and deficit, ’’ he declared
According to him, “as the Chief Advancement Officer of the university, I will aggressively seek after linkages and collaborations that will help turn the fortunes of the institution around and make it adequately competitive in every way possible’’.
He described the young university as a bundle of potential for the branding of Plateau and the entire nation if properly exploited and managed.
Izam said that every university’s mandate was manifested in the effectiveness of teaching, research and community service and as such, developing a competitive plan of action for a systematic and dynamic result was imperaive.
“This will no doubt bring about comprehensive, progressive and implementable institutional governance structure that will guarantee the achievement of this mandate, ’’ he stated.
The VC, however, urged the Senate to cooperate with him in achieving his vision for the university as entrenched in the creation of a conducive atmosphere that would guarantee the attainment of its mandate.(NAN)
