Abuja, March 5, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Monday arraigned a 32-year-old man, Edem Basil,  in a Grade 1 Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly taking photographs of angry mob demonstrating and attacking some policemen.

The defendant, who resides at Durumi 2, Abuja, was arraigned on a count charge bordering on public nuisance, an offence he denied committing.

The prosecutor, Vincent Osuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 25, around 10:a.m.

He said that the defendant was arrested by the Area Commander, Metro FCT Command, Abuja on the same date.

“While some angry mobs were demonstrating and attacking the police, the defendant was sighted taking photographs of the process.

“He was warned by the police to leave the scene and go back home, but he refused and continued photographing and videotaping the process.

“During police investigation, the defendant confessed to committing the crime,” Osuji said.

According to the prosecutor, the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 198 of the Penal Code Law.

The judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted the defendant N10, 000 bail with one reliable surety in like sum and adjourned the case until April 9, for hearing. (NAN)
