Lagos, March 5, 2018 (NAN) Three boys and a girl, all secondary school students, who engaged in a free-for-all over a girlfriend, were on Monday remanded in a Lagos Juvenile Centre.
They are to remain behind bars until their bail conditions are met, an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court ruled.
Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni, who gave the ruling, had granted the accused bails in the sum of N10, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Clifford Ogu, told the court that accused of ages between 13 and 16 years, are being tried for conspiracy, breach of peace and assault.
He alleged that the offences were committed on Feb. 21 at Ojodu Grammar School, Ojodu, Lagos.
According to him, a fight broke out following the refusal of a girl to accept love advances from one of the boys.
“The girl refused and one of the accused slapped her; she went to bring her other male friends for a reprisal.
“During the fight, the complainant, also a student in the school tried to separate them. A stick hit the complainant on the right eye thereby making him permanently blind.”
The offences contravened Sections 54,168 and 245 of the Criminal Law of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The case has been adjourned until April 3. (NAN)
