Lafia, March 2, 2018 (NAN) A National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) member, Emmanuela Embazekwe, has organised Mathematics competition for schools in Nasarawa State, to boost students’ interest in the subject.
Speaking at the end of the competition on Friday in Lafia, Embazekwe said she organised the competition among 35 primary and secondary schools in the state.
“Students at all levels over the years have developed phobia for mathematics in spite of the fact that it is a compulsory subject.’’
The corps member said she was ready to organise more of such mathematics programmes that would give the students opportunity to showcase their talents.
She said the programme would also help to disabuse the minds of students that have phobia for the subject.
She expressed gratitude to the NYSC management, Nasarawa government, participating schools and all those that made the competition a success.
Also speaking, Dr Daniel Iganjuwa, the Inspector of NYSC, Lafia Local Government Area (LGA), commended the corps member for organising the educative programme.
Iganjuwa said the competition would arouse the students’ interest in mathematics and urged other corps members to emulate her. (NAN)
