Lagos Feb. 28, 2018 (NAN) Francis Orbih, President, Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), has pledged to reposition the body to place Nigeria among the best badminton playing nations.
Orbih made the pledge against the backdrop of Nigeria’s good performance at the just-concluded All Africa Badminton Championships in Algeria.
He spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Lagos.
“At the recently-concluded games in Algeria, we had a very good representation where our players did very well in the men and women singles, coming home with silver medals.
“We have to improve on this and ensure that we strive hard to achieve our objectives,’’ Orbih said.
He harped on the need for adequate maintenance of sports facilities in the country to entice investors.
“We have always looked for private initiatives to pilot our vision and ensure the game does not fall short of what we expect.
‘’When we have good facilities for players to train and regular championships to keep them busy, we will be well-prepared for international events,’’ he said.
Orbih told NAN that the next major event in the BFN’s itinerary would be a training tour in Indonesia in April.
The president added that coaches and umpires under its purview would hold a training in April in Port Harcourt. (NAN)
