Abuja, Feb. 21 , 2018 (NAN) A Wuse Zone 2 Magistrates’ Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted N200,000 bail to 34-year-old contractor, Uche Atuswe, over alleged N260,000 phone theft.

Atuswe, who hails from Delta, is facing one-count charge of theft.

The Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, who granted the bail, also ordered Atuswe to produce one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until March 22 for further hearing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Adeneyi Oyeyemi, had told the court that Mahmud Usman of Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at Central Police Station, Abuja, on Feb. 15.

He said “Usman was at his business centre at Federal Secretariat, Abuja, with three of his staff on Feb. 14 when the defendant and his friend came to edit and type some documents.

“The complainant stood up for a while and when he returned, he could not find his Samsung Galaxy S7 phone valued at N260,000 and the defendant had left the shop, leaving his friend behind.

“All efforts to reach him proved abortive, but through surveillance, the phone was found with the defendant.”

Oyeyemi said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
