Lagos, Feb. 19, 2018 (NAN) Daniel Alfred, 18-year-old security guard, who allegedly broke into his employer’s house at Magodo Estate, Lagos, with a friend to steal, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, who lives with his employer (name withheld) at Ogedengbe Crescent, Magodo, is being tried for conspiracy and burglary.

Alfred, with the assistance of his accomplice still at large, allegedly broke into his employer’s house through the kitchen while he was unavailable, according to the prosecution.

The accused committed the offences on Feb. 11, Police Prosecutor Clifford Ogu told the court.

“The accused brought his friend to the house where he is working as a guard, who is now at large, and broke into his employer’s kitchen.

“He damaged the burglar proof to gain entry into the house when nobody was at home,’’ Ogu, an inspector, said.

Ogu told the court the complainant’s sister, noticed the damaged burglar proof and raised alarm.
“The accused was immediately apprehended while his friend ran away.”

The offences violated Sections 310 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 310 prescribes a three-year jail term for breaking into a house to commit felony, while Section 411 stipulates two years for conspiracy.

The accused, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.

Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni granted the accused bail in the sum N50,000 with one surety and adjourned the case until March 26. (NAN)
