Aran-Orin (Kwara),  Feb. 19, 2018 (NAN) The people of Aran-Orin in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara have commended the Council Chairman, Mr Muyiwa Oladipo, for his road intervention scheme aimed at boosting development in the area.

Chief John Olawuyi, a community leader, who spoke with  the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on  the side-lines  of the grading of Aran-Orin/Olowonijere roads,  described the initiative as unprecedented  in the history of the community.

NAN reports that the council’s  officials  led by the chairman  were in the community on Monday to  assess the extent of work on the grading of the roads.

He said the grading of the roads, apart from ensuring smooth vehicular and human movement,  would also assist in the movement of goods,  especially agricultural  products.

Olawuyi said the roads,  which serve  as a major link  to other neighbouring communities, was very vital in  boosting  commercial activities of the people of the area.

According to him, the deplorable state of the roads over a long period has been a source of concern to the people.

“We would forever be grateful and supportive to the council’s boss and its entire team for this great honour,’’ he said.

On his part, Mr Adeoti Olufemi, the Principal of  Ofe-Aran Commercial College, Omu-Aran, described the grading of the road leading to the school as “a life- time achievement for the students and management.’’

Olufemi expressed the school’s gratitude to the council over the gesture, saying the grading of the road would not only ensure efficiency on the part of the management but also improve the students’ overall performance.

“Both the management and students have tried in vain through sand filling and other measures in ensuring that the road is accessible for vehicular and human movement,’’ he said.

In his remarks, Oladipo said the grading of the roads was in  fulfilment of his campaign promises to the people.

He said the grading of the roads, the provision of a 12 public toilet closets in Omu-Aran and other packages  were part of the administration’s desire to ensure the well-being of the people.  (NAN)
