Lafia, Feb. 15, 2018 (NAN) The Federal University, Lafia, has matriculated 1, 500 students for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Prof. Muhammed Sanusi-Liman, the institution’s Vice- Chancellor (VC) disclosed this on Thursday in Lafia.
He advised the students to always strive for academic excellence “to justify their parent’s investments on them.”
He urged them to always attend lectures saying 75 per cent attendance was the prerequisite to write examinations.

He said anyone caught indulging in any social vices would face disciplinary actions or expulsion from the university.
He said that the management of the institution was aware of the challenges of inadequate lecture rooms, laboratories, electricity, inter-campus transportation among others.
The VC also said that the university senate had approved the introduction of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Education.
He said a proposal was already before the senate awaiting approval for the establishment of the Faculty of Administration and Environment Management.

“We have introduced Science Laboratory Technology, Library and Information Science in the Faculty of Science.
“Also, we have introduced Geography and Psychology in the Faculty of Social Sciences as well as CRS, IRS and Arabic in the Faculty of Arts,” he said.
Prof. Sanusi-Liman noted that the steps were geared toward widening admission access for candidates seeking admissions to universities.
He added that it was also to improve the quality of higher education in the country.
He said that since he was appointed the VC of the institution in February 2016, he had done a lot towards consolidating on the achivements of the pioneer VC.
“I have built two blocks of 250-seat capacity lecture hall from our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and established the School of Post Graduate Studies.
“Others built by my administration are the School of Remedial Studies/ IJMB Consultancy Unit to boost the IGR of the university,” he said.
