Dutse, Feb. 15, 2018 (NAN) The Jigawa Government has inaugurated a 12-member committee for the establishment of a college of remedial and advanced studies in the state.
Dr Abbas Abubakar, the Executive Secretary of the state Agency for Mass Education, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Thursday.
Abubakar said the institution, named Jigawa State College of Remedial and Advanced Studies (JICORAS), would be established in Babura Local Government Area of the state.
He said that the committee, inaugurated on January 8, had four weeks to submit its report.
The executive secretary added that the terms of reference of the committee included production of operational blue print for the establishment of the college.
“The operational blue print include: logo and Moto, philosophy, objectives, vision and mission, curriculum structure, content and staffing and management structure,” he said.
According to him, the committee is also to recommend an appropriate site for the college and the facilities require in the college.
Abubakar enumerated the facilities to include lecture rooms/classrooms, laboratories, libraries, workshops, hostels, staff houses/offices, medical and sporting facilities, electricity and access roads.
He said the committee was also to recommend detailed subject to be offered and academic brief for the departments/units of the college.
“Others are principal officers (principal/provost, registrar/bursar), detailed financial requirements for the smooth take-off, subsequent financial requirements and sources of funding, other than the Jigawa state government.
“The committee is also expected to provide inputs for the enactment of a law establishing the college, make any recommendations of specific or general nature related to its smooth take-off,” he said.
The executive secretary told NAN that the committee had Dr Abbas Abbas as Chairman and Sadisu Buhari as Secretary.
He named other members as Alhaji Abdullahi Yunusa, Nasiru Umar, Dr Salisu Sani, Dr Aliyu Abdu, Gaji Hussain, Babandi Abubukar, Rabiu Saleh and Muhammad Zangi. (NAN)
