Lagos, Feb. 14, 2018 (NAN) The Lagos State Para-Soccer team on Wednesday expressed their readiness to excel at the maiden Nasarawa National Para-soccer Championship, holding from March 2 to March 7 in Lafia.
The team’s Head Coach, Femi Afolanyan, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that his players were well prepared for the competition.
He added that the championship which was earlier fixed for Feb. 14 to Feb. 21 was postponed due to the Para-Sports Federation elections.
NAN reports that election of the Zonal Representatives, Vice Presidents, and Presidents of various para-sports federation would hold tomorrow in Abuja.
“For the past few months, my players have been training every Tuesdays and Thursdays at the National Stadium in preparation for the competition.
“I can proudly say that Lagos para-soccer team is one of the best in the country and we are looking forward to do our best and make the state proud.
“We have written to the Lagos State Sports Commission on our intention to participate in the championship and we’re hopeful of a good response next week,’’ he said.
He, however, appealed to well meaning Lagosians to support the team ahead of the competition.
“If we can get support from other sources it will also go a long way to motivate the players to do well,’’ he said. (NAN)
