Dutse, Feb. 14, 2018 (NAN) The Suletankarkar Local Government Area of Jigawa on Wednesday said more than 40,000 animals would be vaccinated in the ongoing Annual Animal Vaccination in the area.

The Council’s Spokesman, Alhaji Daudu Sulaiman, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse.

“More than forty thousand cattle, dogs, sheep, goats and poultry are expected to be vaccinated against different diseases in Suletankarkar Local Government Area.

‎“The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, will last for nine days,” Sulaiman said.

He explained that nine centres were designated for the conduct of the exercise across the area.

The spokesman added the chairman of the council,  Malam Jafaru Muhammad, had  provided the vaccinators with the logistics support for a successful exercise.

According to him, Jafaru, urged herdsmen in the area to ensure they present their animals for vaccination while commending the state government for provision of enough doses of vaccines for the exercise.

‎NAN recalls that the state government targeted more than 1 million animals for the 2018 annual animals’ vaccination exercise across the 27 local government areas of the state.

During the exercise, cattle were expected to be vaccinated against Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pnuemonia (CBPP), sheep and goats against Peste de Petites Prominante (PPR), dogs against Rabies, while chickens would be vaccinated against New Castle Disease.  (NAN)
