Ochoche made this known on Wednesday in an interview with newsmen in Yola.

He said that the schools, which were destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents, included six in Madagali and three in Hong local government areas of Adamawa.

He added that four schools were also affected in Hawul, four in Damboa, four in Chibok and four in Askira/Uba local government areas of Borno.

He noted that education was the key component of VSF support with about 100,000 children benefitting from the fund in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

He pointed out that “I was in Michika, Adamawa, on Tuesday, to hand over completed blocks of classrooms to their handlers.”

Ochoche urged Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other donor organisations to join hands with VSF to assist victims of insurgency in the north east.

On Foster Care Programme of the fund, Ochoche said 2,500 orphans were benefitting from the programme in Adamawa.

He explained that under the programme, foster parents were being supported with monthly stipend of N14,000 for feeding, education and healthcare of orphans under their care.

He explained that “the foster care programme is about identifying orphans and vulnerable children and providing a structure of protection for them.

“The programme is one in which we identify homes that have been determined by the community as credible that can provide care and support to the children.” (NAN)
