MoU

Abuja, Feb.6, 2018(NAN) The Chinese News Agency also known as the Xinhua News Agency, on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on photo news service exchange.
The General Manager of Xinhua Africa, Mr Wang Jida while signing the MoU told the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Bayo Onanuga that Xinhua wished to review its relationship with the agency.
Jida said that the MoU would also help Xinhua to get access to domestic news on Nigeria, adding that it would help to cement the relationship with NAN.
“As part of the MoU, Xinhua will provide its daily English photo news service and stories to NAN through the internet.
“ If stories and photos are published on NAN’s television or website, it should be indicated clearly that Xinhua is the provider.”
Jida said that Xinhua was also working with other news agencies in Africa.
The Managing Director of NAN, Mr Bayo Onanuga said the the MoU was an opportunity to further cement existing relationship between the two agencies.
Onanuga said that by law, NAN was the sole provider of news in Nigeria, and had established partnership with other news agencies like Reuters, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, among others.
He stressed that NAN’s local subscribers who depended on it for daily News would now have more content to work with.
The managing director, however, said NAN was working to upgrade its technology to boost its services and “needs assistance in terms of training and equipment.’’
Onanuga said that NAN would continue to be good partners with Xinhua to ensure further collaboration.(NAN)
