Abuja, Feb. 6, 2018 (NAN) A 28-year-old driver, Joel Ayuba, on Tuesday begged a Karmo Grade1 Area Court, Abuja, to give him light sentence, after he admitted committing the offence levelled against him.

“I plead with this court to reduce my punishment for I know I am guilty of all the allegations,’’ Ayuba told the court before his conviction.

“I am so sorry for staying in that place, please sir temper justice with mercy, ’’the driver appealed.

Ayuba was charged with continuance of nuisance, after earlier warning to desist from the act.

The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced Ayuba to one month imprisonment with an option of N3, 000 fine.
Sadiq also warned the convict to desist from committing crime after serving his punishment.

The prosecuting counsel, Mrs Florence Auhioboh, had told the court that the Police Crime Prevention Unit, Utako, arrested and brought Ayuba to Utako Police Station, Abuja, on Jan. 31.

Auhioboh, said that on the same date, at about 9: p.m. the convict was arrested when a team of police men raided a black spot, behind Customs Quarters, Utako.

She said that the police had early warned the convict to stop constituting nuisance, but he refused.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the convict confessed committing the crime.

The offence contravened Section 198 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
