Abuja, Dec.5, 2018(NAN) A middle aged woman, Mrs Hope Udom was on Tuesday docked at the Upper Area Court, Abuja for allegedly defrauding another woman of N1.4million.

Udom pleaded not guilty on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and cheating.

The prosecutor, Mr Adenyi Oyeyemi had told the court that one Miss Blessing Kalu of Nyanya, FCT reported the matter at Garki Police Station on May 18.

According to Oyeyemi, while the complainant was on her way to Apo village, she boarded a vehicle where the defendant and two others now at large, pretended to be passengers.

He alleged that they deceived her and took her to a shrine in Life Camp Area where they deceitfully collected the sum of N400, 000 from her.

The prosecutor said that the defendant also conspired and gave the complainant her UBA account number 2071211426 which bore her name to pay in the money.

“She defrauded her of another N1million which she confessed to during interrogation,’’ Oyeyemi said.

However, the judge, Mr Sidi Bello admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1.5m with a reliable surety.

The case was adjourned to April 10 for hearing. (NAN)
