Lagos Feb. 2, 2018 (NAN) Franco Maggi, Managing Director, Nigeria Breweries Plc, on Friday said that the company would sponsor the historic Women’s Bobsled and Skeleton Team who for the first time qualified for the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The Nigerian Bobsled Team comprises Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere, while Nigeria’s Skeleton athlete, Simidele Adeagbo will be participating in the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigerian Breweries Plc., one of the nation’s leading beer brands and a leading sponsor of sports, made the disclosure in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

The company said that for over 100 years of the history of the Winter Olympics Games, Nigeria had never been represented in any of the Winter Games.

“Therefore, it is indeed a great achievement to celebrate and be a part of this development.

“As the first lager brewed in Nigeria, we identify with greatness and that pioneering spirit of excellence that these four amazing Nigerian women represent.

“The zeal to go on and shine in the face of uncertainty, in an uncharted terrain, deeply resonates with us and we are very delighted to be able to support these great athletes,’’ the statement said.

“We hope at the end, we would have fulfilled our own part in making this dream of participating and winning medals in Pyeongchang come true.

“Nigerian Breweries Plc also appreciates the professional conduct and support of the Bobsled and Skeleton Federation and Integral and Temple Management Company, which enabled this partnership to take place.’’

NAN reports that the Winter Olympics will hold from Feb. 9 to Feb. 25 in South Korea. (NAN)
