Polytechnic

Mubi (Adamawa), Feb. 2, 2018 (NAN) The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi in Adamawa, Dr Sadiq Yahya, has appealed to the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative (PCNI), to rebuilt facilities in the institution destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgency.
Yahya made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Mubi on Friday.
He lamented that insurgents had invaded the polytechnic in the peak of the insurgency, destroying facilities belonging to both the institution and workers.
Yahya said that the institution had not received any form of assistance from either government or the private sector since the destruction of the facilities.
The rector wondered why the institution could be neglected in the rehabilitation scheme outlined by the Federal Government.
“We observe that various organisations have been making efforts, especially in the area of humanitarian services to IDPs and other insurgency-affected communities.
“It is our profound desire that the polytechnic should have been considered so as to positively affect teaching and learning now and for the future.
“We have reached out to several organisations to seek assistance but none has come to our aid.
“We are not asking for too much or for compensation but for our damaged infrastructure to be fixed back, especially our laboratories and if possible build more internet facilities, water and power supply,’’ Yahya pleaded. (NAN)
