Abuja, Jan. 29, 2018 (NAN) Association of Communications Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) has launched a platform to feature series of lectures by eminent persons to discuss ways to promote strategic thinking in communication and media practice.
Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, the General-Secretary of the association, and the Dean, College of Social and Management Sciences, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
The lecture is tagged: ACSPN Eminent Persons Strategy Series.
Owens-Ibie said the series would feature eminent persons both local and international professionals, experts and scholars who were not core communication and media professionals.
He said the series would harness current thinking on issues germane to the future of the disciplines of communication and media.
According to him, the series is part of the evolving ideas revolution which should drive the 21st Century positioning, as the world moves rapidly during a critical phase in its Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“The new series not only is a restatement of the centrality of communication in all spheres of human and societal life, but acknowledges the ramifying roles and direct and or indirect influences in shaping issues of communication and media.
“This will involve those who are not primarily in media and communication scholarship and practice,’’ he said.
Owens-Ibie said the ACSPN Eminent Persons Strategy Series came on the heels of two other ACSPN initiatives “which are recording significant strides’’.
He listed the initiatives as the ACSPN Empowerment Series which had featured a number of activities targeting the empowerment of various audiences in communication and media issues, and the ACSPN History Series.
He said ACSPN history series had been featuring distinguished veterans with rich track records in the various areas of communication and media scholarship and practice.
“Both series have simultaneously targeted students, professionals, scholars and other relevant audiences, and witnessed critical collaborations.
“As ACSPN remains driven by the commitment to mainstream best practice,’’ he said. (NAN)
