Mangu(Plateau) Jan. 25, 2018 (NAN) Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, NYSC Director General, has advised corps members to initiate projects that would transform their host communities.
Kazaure gave the advice on Thursday, when he visited the Mangu NYSC Orientation camp in Plateau.
The camp currently hosts 2017 Batch B Stream 2 corps members posted to Gombe, Nasarawa and Plateau.
Kazaure challenged the corps members to study their host communities and strive to execute Community Development Service (CDS), projects that would touch their lives.
The NYSC boss particularly urged corps members serving in rural areas to bring about the needed positive change in key areas like human capital development, water supply, health care and education.
“Some rural areas hardly care about basic sanitation; some cannot access basic health care. Corps members should strive to assist in such areas,” he said.
Kazaure called on the corps members to pay attention to the NYSC Skill Acquisition Programme so as to prepare for challenges after the service year.
The NYSC boss assured corps members of their safety during the service year, saying that the scheme was working with various security agencies to secure the corps members.
Kazaure promised that no corps member would be posted to a volatile area, and cautioned corps members against disrespecting the norms and culture of their host communities.
He cautioned them against night parties, and advised them to always move together. (NAN)
