Lawmaker to empower widows, orphans with N4.8m

Akwanga (Nasarawa State), Jan. 17, 2018 (NAN) Rep. David Ombugadu (PDP-Nasarawa) says he will empower widows, orphans and farmers in his constituency with N4.8 million to improve their standards of living.
Ombugadu made this known while speaking with newsmen in Alushi, Akwanga Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, on Wednesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that on Aug. 10, 2017, Ombugadu inaugurated 1,500 boreholes across communities in the state.
NAN also recalls that on Jan. 14, Ombugadu inaugurated an N80 million ultra-modern hospital in Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) Medical Centre, Alushi, in the state.
The lawmaker said that his plan to continue to empower his constituents was born out of his desire to impact and touch lives positively for the overall development of the country.
“I have a lot of activities to mark my 40th year birthday this year in which I will be celebrating soon.
`During the birthday I will give out 40 laptops to 40 people; N40,000 cash to 40 widows; N40,000 cash to 40 orphans; and N40,000 cash to 40 farmers in order to improve their standard of living,’’ said Ombugadu.
He added that the initiative was to improve on the standard of education, boost farming activities and to improve the lives of widows and orphans in the area.
The lawmaker restated his commitment to continue to support good policies and programmes that had direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.
“First and foremost, I want to always thank my constituents for their continued support and I have promised to do more projects, to impact positively on their lives and that of other Nigerians for the overall development of the country.
“Everybody can testify to what I have done for the people of my constituency, especially in the area of infrastructure development such as provision of transformers, healthcare, water supply, youths and women empowerment.
“During the birth day celebration, I intend to carry out a lot of activities that has to do with economic empowerment relating activities in order to better the lives of my people,’’ he said.
On his 2019 governorship ambition, Ombugadu said: “We are still consulting and we are trusting God that if people will consider our performance and then see, consider us on merit, why not, we will answer their clarion call.
“If the people rate you and see that you are above every person in terms of performance and they have the criteria and measurement of who should represent effectively at the high office, why not, we will answer the clarion call.”
The legislator assured his constituents of a robust and quality representation at the legislature and solicited their support to enable him succeed.
Ombugadu also urged Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, embrace peace and tolerate one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious and political affiliations for national development. (NAN)
