Sokoto, Jan. 17 2018 (NAN) The Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Commission, on Wednesday, disbursed N10.5 million assistance to fire outbreak victims and others in need in the state.
The Chairman of the commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki, launched the distribution in Sokoto, saying it was part of state government’s efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
He added that “Sokoto State Government is committed to ensuring more assistance are given to
people to support their wellbeing.
“A total of N10.5 million will be disbursed to assist fire outbreak victims, women, traders and payment of loan, among others.
“A total of 560 people will benefit, ranging from N50,000 to N20,000, to be distributed as earlier
applied through the commission.”
The chairman commended the state government “for its continued support to enable the success of the commission.”
He called on wealthy individuals to emulate government in supporting the commission activities to alleviate the sufferings of the people in the state.
Maidoki urged beneficiaries to judiciously utilise money given them to improve their living standard and the society at large. (NAN)
