Chicken feeds thief bags 2 years imprisonment

Jos, Jan. 17, 2018 (NAN) A Jos Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama on Wednesday sentenced a trader, Alex Guga, to two years imprisonment for stealing 160 bags of chicken feeds.

The judge, Mr Yahaya Mohammed, handed down the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

He, however, gave Guga an option of N10, 000 fine in lieu of the two years jail term or to serve six months in prison without an option of fine.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that Tenimu Isa of Farin Gada Tomatoes Market on Dec. 7, 2017, reported the incident to the `B’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Laranto in Jos.

Gokwat said Guga stole 160 bags of chicken feeds belonging to Musa Mai Buhu at the market and sold the commodity to another man, Sani Mohammed of Katako Market, Jos.

The offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code, Laws of Plateau. (NAN)
