Electrician docked over alleged stealing of N18,000, Itel tablet

Abuja, Jan. 15, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Monday arraigned one Innocent Geoffrey in a  Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja,  for allegedly stealing one Itel tablet.

The defendant, who is a resident of Katampe, Abuja, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft.

The prosecutor, Austine Joshua, said that one Blessing Fanah, of Katampe, Abuja, reported the matter at Katampe Police Station on Jan.2.

He alleged that the defendant came to Goodland Plaza, Katampe, with two others who are now at large, and stole one Itel tablet and N18,000 cash from the complainant.

He said that during police investigation, one HP laptop without receipt, suspected to be stolen was also found in the possession of the defendant.

Joshua said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97 and 287 of Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Eremasi Ebiwari, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum.

Ebiwari adjourned the case until Feb . 19, for hearing.( NAN)
