Bus conductor bags 1 year imprisonment for stealing, stabbing victim

Lagos, Jan. 12, 2018 (NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Friday sentenced a 21-year-old bus conductor, Daniel Alaboso, to one year imprisonment for stealing, stabbing and removing the left eyeball of one Okwuchi Nwaimo.

The Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Layinka, sentenced the convict, whose address is unknown, after he pleaded guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and assault.

The convict, who begged for forgiveness, was however, not given an option of fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Edet Okoi, had told the court that the complainant, Nwaimo, reported the matter at the Isheri Berger Police division, Lagos.

Okoi said that the crime was committed on Dec. 24, at about 10.30 p.m., at No. 9, Olowora Road, Isheri Lagos.

He told the court that the accused criminally trespassed into the complainant’s medicine store and carted away sales money and two mobile phones, all valued at N700,000.

According to the prosecutor, the accused, who conspired with others now at large, assaulted the complainant by using a broken bottle and knife to stab him.

“The accused stabbed Nwaimo, thereby removing his left eyeball,” he said

Okoi said that when the accused was arrested and interrogated, he confessed to the crime.

Okoi said that the offences contravened Sections 171, 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
