Philanthropist sponsors surgeries of 100 less privileged in Katsina

Kafur (Katsina State) Jan. 11, 2018 (NAN) A philanthropist, Alhaji Gambo Ahmad-Mahuta, has sponsored surgeries of 100 less privileged patients in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, Ahmad-Mahuta, is the present Executive Director, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety (NIMASA).

 

The Medical Outreach Coordinator, Malam Tanimu Tanko, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Mahuta, Kafur Local Government.

 

He said the initiative was aimed at assisting less-privileged persons with health challenges especially in the rural areas to complement government efforts on healthcare delivery.

 

He urged people with health challenges to go and access the free medical services.

 

The lead Surgeon, Dr AbdulAziz Labo, said that over 200 patients were screened while 100 had undergone surgeries, adding that the others were given medications free of charge.

 

“One hundred patients’ undergone surgeries, while others were given medications for their ailments.

 

“The surgeries were conducted on patients with hernia, appendices, lyceuma and hemorrhoid diseases, among others,’’ he said.

 

He noted that some patients diagnosed with severe diseases were referred to suitable hospitals for proper medical attention.

 

Labo described the exercise as great succour to less privileged persons as many of them were in need of the treatment for long periods.

 

He urged other well-to-do individuals to emulate the philanthropist with a view to save lives of less privileged in the society.

 

Some of the beneficiaries at Mahuta Hospital, Hamisu Garba, Samaila Sule and Hauwa’u Garba, expressed appreciation on the gesture.

 

They explained that they suffered from the ailments for long time, until now when they received surgeries and medication free of charge. (NAN)
