Asaba, Jan.10, 2018 (NAN) A 43-year-old woman, Chukwura Ngozi, who allegedly defrauded Yusuf E-Burka of N2.5 million, was on Wednesday docked before an Asaba Magistrate Court.
Ngozi is standing trial for defrauding E-Burka under the pretence of supplying him one thousand empty drums, but failed to deliver on her promise.
The prosecutor, Mr Alex Ibendiogwu, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Feb. 22, 2017 at Cable area of Asaba.
Ibendiogwu said that the offence was punishable under the Criminal Code, Laws of Delta, 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Okonkwo Akanume, granted the accused bail of N350, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Akanume said that both sureties should provide evidence of employment and must own landed property.
She said that one of them must be a relation of the accused and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
The magistrate also said that the sureties must provide two passport photographs each and should be verified by the court registrar.
She adjourned the case until Jan.15 for definite hearing. (NAN)
