Katsina, Jan. 9, 2018(NAN) The General-Manager, Katsina State Radio, Alhaji Sani Bala Kabomo has said inadequate manpower and modern transmitters are hindering effective service delivery of state owned radio station

Kabomo stated this on Tuesday in Katsina at the 30th Anniversary of the station and award presentation to some staff.

‘’Our inadequacies include shortage of manpower, lack of modern  50 kilowatts transmitter at the Dutsin-ma transmitting station lack of General renovation of radio house, training and retraining of staff, and provision of operational vehicles,’’ he said.

Kabomo also said that high cost of diesel had forced the station to cut down transmission to 15 hours daily.

He, however, noted that the state government awarded a contract to provide solar as alternative source of power in the station.

‘’After successful completion of the project, the station will be transmitting its services for over 18 hours daily,’’ he said.

The general-manager said the station was the most effective means of delivering information to people.

He said the station had produced prominent personalities in the media profession within and outside the country.

In his remarks the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Masari said the state government has given people freedom to express their views in the state owned-media.

Masari, who was represented by the commissioner of information, Alhaji Hamza Brodo, said the government was committed to improving infrastructure of the station this year.

He also said his administration would continue to design policies and programmes that would improve the living conditions of people and move the state forward.

NAN reports that awards were presented to some retired staff for their services to the station. (NAN)
