Minna, Jan.2, 2018 ( NAN) The Police Command in Niger on Tuesday commended residents of the state for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the recent Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Dibal Yakadi, made the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
Yakadi said the command recorded zero crime during the festivities in the state.
He said this was achieved through the “working support’’ received from members of the general public.
He assured the people of the command’s readiness to sustain the peaceful coexistence among them and as well guard them against any form of threats to lives and property.
“We have put in place sensitive security measures to sustain a peaceful atmosphere that is devoid of tribal, religious and political differences,” the commissioner said.
He said the measures would guarantee peaceful coexistence among the residents.
He urged them to go about their lawful businesses without fear, and promptly report any suspicious attempt to disrupt the peace to relevant security agencies.
Yakadi said it was imperative for law abiding residents to support the police with vital information to stop and apprehend criminal elements in their communities.
“We will continue to put in various security methods that would pave way for the arrest and prosecution of criminals in our midst,” he added. ( NAN)
