Motorcycle

Lagos, Dec. 28, 2017 (NAN) A 27-year-old bus conductor , Yakubu Umaru, charged with stealing a motorcycle worth N210,000 appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Umaru, who lives at Isheri Area of Lagos State, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences with one other still at large on Nov. 9 at No. 3, Ademehin St., Isheri.
Eruada said the accused stole the motorcycle with Reg. No. MEK 709 WY from a compound where it was parked, property of the complainant, Mr Onyebuchi Ayogu.
“The complainant caught the accused while he was trying to escape with the bike and handed him over to the police,” he said.
Eruada said the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowoshe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties like sum and adjourned the case until Jan.15, 2018 for mention (NAN)
