Police in Niger record zero crime during Christmas celebrations– Commissioner

Minna, Dec. 27, 2017 (NAN) The Niger State Police Command on Wednesday announced that it recorded a zero-crime during the Christmas celebrations in the state.

Mr Dibal Yakadi, Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.

He said that no crime or violence was recorded across the 25 local government areas of the state either during the Christmas celebration or on Boxing Day.

Yakadi explained that this was made possible by the cooperation received from the people, which he said, paved way for the peaceful conduct of the celebrations.

He said that the police would continue to initiate various forms of security measures to sustain peace in the state.

“We have also put in formidable security measures to enable residents to also conduct the New Year celebrations peacefully,’’ he said.

Yakadi called for continued working understanding from the general public by continuously furnishing the Police with intelligence reports on the movement of suspicious persons in their midst.

He solicited the support of all stakeholders, as well as traditional and religious leaders, towards mobilising the people to be actively involved in community policing.

The CP also commended the officers and men of the command for demonstrating a high sense of professionalism at all times.(NAN)
