Ibadan, Dec 25, 2017(NAN) Rev. Joseph Akinfenwa, the Anglican Bishop of Ibadan Diocese, has called on government to address the plights of Nigerians.
Akinfenwa made the call on Monday during his Christmas sermon at the Cathedral of St. James Anglican Church, Oke-Bola, Ibadan.
He expressed concern over the sufferings of Nigerians, who he said, had “endless hope for better Nigeria”.
Akinfenwa said the country had all the requirements to make Nigerians live comfortable life devoid of poverty or suffering, but lacked good managers of resources.
He said that the search for better living had forced thousands of Nigerians to leave the country to foreign lands where many of them ended up as slaves.
”But whoever God gives the privilege to rule or be in position of power will be called to account for his or her stewardship.
”Even after he had finished ruling, he or she will face judgment to account for his or her actions.
”There is judgment for every action, either positive or negative, so leaders should be aware and lead rightly,” the cleric said.
The bishop said it was doubtful if Nigerian politicians observed the oath of office they took when they came into office.
He said that those in the corridors of power would have performed well if they observed the oath of office they took.
Akinfenwa urged Nigerians to look up unto God, saying God would continue to make way for His own.
He advised Christians to keep on praying to God and not to lose hope, saying “better days await people that trust in the Lord.” (NAN)
